The ICDSC 2010 Mobile Computer Vision Challenge provides an opportunity for research teams as well as individuals to present their work on innovative applications of computer vision for mobile devices. The challenge includes, but is not limited to, mobile phone platforms such as iPhone, Android and Windows Mobile. The submissions will be judged by research and industry experts for creativity, potential impact, commercial viability and utility with a prize awarded to the winner. Applicants must submit the required material based on the following guidelines.

Track 1 (Research)

The research track is paper-based, and requires submission of a full-length paper according to the conference submission guidelines. The review process will be performed by research and industry experts on mobile apps and computer vision. The credit is given to research contribution, novelty and potential impact of the presented idea. There will be a special session for oral presentation of the accepted papers for this track. Accepted papers will be published in conjunction with ICDSC’s proceedings.

Track 2 (Demo+Poster)

The second track is demonstration only. To register for this track, a 2 to 4 page abstract in PDF format explaining how the proposed application works and what is significant about it, is required. The credit is given to novelty, good presentation and commercial viability of the application. There will be a special session for poster presentation and demonstration of the accepted submissions for this track.

The winner is nominated by the panel of judges (from both tracks) and will receive a prize valued 500 USD from National ICT Australia.

At least one of the authors of the accepted material must register and present at the conference, to be eligible to enter to ICDSC challenge. There is no limitation in terms of the number of submissions per individual for this challenge.

Free utility for interested contestants:

The patent protected iPhone Face Search Library for low-resolution face recognition, is a product of Security and Surveillance team at National ICT Australia. This library will be available for the contestants of ICDSC 2010 for research purposes for free. This library can be used as a component for iPhone apps which require face recognition function. A special prize is considered for the best innovative iPhone app that is implemented based on this library.
